Older Adult Ministry
Our Older Adult Ministry was initially created to intentionally reach out to the older adults in our church family who can no longer attend worship services or participate in our church-sponsored activities. Along with our pastor, many of our church family have helped these special folks feel more connected by weekly mailings of worship bulletins, visiting, sending cards, and special deliveries during holiday seasons.
We encourage intergenerational relationships with participation by our children and youth in making cards, crafts, baking, and Christmas caroling in homes and residential facilities.
A wonderful out-growth of this ministry has been our unique “Dog Ministry”, originated by church member, Ruth Ann Armentrout. With the passing of Ruth Ann in 2015, this ministry is now under the leadership of Bev Earman. Several of our church family and their dogs regularly visit two local nursing/assisted living homes---presently, alternating monthly visits to Journey’s Crossing in Elkton and White Birch Communities near Bridgewater. The residents and staff of these facilities have been very receptive to these visits, and those involved in this outreach have been especially blessed. Those interested in this ministry may contact Bev Earman at 298-8886.
Recently, Janet Baggott has assumed leadership of our M&Ms (Mature Methodists). She has been planning day trips for the more active older adults in our church family. She can be contacted at 289-9892.
