Camp Overlook is a resource we use. They offer many different events such as summer camps for our children and youth, A Walk to the Manger, a Christmas luncheon for UMW, and a variety of other camps. Please visit their website for more information or ask someone at church about the children’s camp or the Emmaus Walk.
Matthew 18:20-For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.
Family Ministry gets to plan events for the community and the church family like the picnic, carry in meals, game nights, ice cream socials, movie nights, parades and other fun events. We are always seeking new ideas so come join us!
8:33 Music – We play and sing contemporary Christian music for the 8:33am service. We are always searching for more musicians so please come and join us. We try to keep up with the new and upcoming worship songs and practice is on Tuesday evenings.
11:00 am Music – Our Choir, under the direction of Karen Cannon and accompanied by Judy Short, provides the music each Sunday. The choir sings music of varying styles including favorites from classic choral literature as well as gospel, jazz, and American patriotic and folk songs. Their mission is to bring the peace of Christ to the world through their joy of making music, as well as create an atmosphere within the choir where aspiring musicians can grow both individually and collectively.
Older Adult Ministries
Our Older Adult Ministry was initially created to intentionally reach out to the older adults in our church family who can no longer attend worship services or participate in our church-sponsored activities. Along with our pastor, many of our church family have helped these special folks feel more connected by weekly mailings of worship bulletins, visiting, sending cards, and special deliveries during holiday seasons.
Being part of a Small Group can provide meaningful relationships within the larger faith community. A small group can be a Bible Study, Sunday School, Choir, or being part of a ministry team or mission group. Our goal is for EVERYONE at MUMC to have their own personal needs met as they grow in their faith. If you are not currently part of a small group, or would like to form one or lead one, please contact Joe Amend, email – firstname.lastname@example.org so that we may help you find or form a group that meets your needs. The Christian life is one of continual growth through the Christian practices of studying the Bible, prayer, worship and service.
Dinner Groups – This is a good way to get to know other people in the church. Small groups of 6 to 8 adults get together once a month to share a meal. Each group sets their own agenda – sometimes the meal is in someone’s home, sometimes it is a picnic, eating at a restaurant or watching a movie together. We periodically draw names to reform the groups. We’ve been expecting you! If you are interested, contact Joe Amend email@example.com
United Methodist Men
The purpose of our United Methodist Men’s group is to assist men to know Jesus Christ, to serve Him, to grow spiritually, and seek daily to do His will. We meet at the church on the second Sunday of each month at 5:30 pm for a meal, business, and fun. We have a great group of men who enjoy working and being together and we are always looking for guys to join us. Even if you do not attend McGaheysville United Methodist church, we would love for you to join us and check us out. We guarantee that you will have a great time, enjoy a good meal, and will make friends that will last a lifetime. We are also becoming active in providing some ‘odd-job’ help to those who are not able to do the work themselves. Contact Kevin Sager (firstname.lastname@example.org) or the church office (540-289-5445) if you have any questions.
